Retro's back?

2 years ago when my mom asked me to wear a flashy pink, I would detest the simple idea of it. Yet, now, I crave for the brightest of neon. The fashion of the 80's is back. And there is no denying it. With crazy yellows and blasting blues, save the polka dots, it's all around the 'f streets'.
While the clothing has changed it's cuts as well, so have the shades. A matching one with every piece of dress you wear.
Whether it's the classy black and white, or the attractive red and blue. It's not the face cut anymore but the cut of the glasses you're wearing. From the sophisticated and sleek frameless shades we're back to the large and wide frame shades that I saw my dad wearing in black and white photographs.
And it looks funky. The edge to it comes when you get to wear it indoors. Honestly, they're not to protect yourself from the sun anymore, but to flaunt your bit of extra quotient.
Who knows what winter might bring? So let em rule your accessory range till the monsoon bades goodbye!

The Art Of Apt Colour.

The other night I was at a family gathering and two of my second cousins ( I don't even know how we're related ), landed up in this beautiful red flowing gown. Both wore the same. One had a light make up to go with it and looked stunning, trust me. If you happened to glance at her sister, you'd never imagine they're related. How can two people wearing same dresses give such a different impression?!
On better observation I realized it was the 2nd girl's bizarre lip colour that made you wanna look away. Also this isn't just one incident, I have often observed girl's with no sense of applying the right colour to their lips.
So here are some handy tips if you're confused girls.
NO DARK REDS AND BROWNS PLEASE! Let the middle aged women enjoy those colours.
If you're going out in the day for a casual outing, stick to light pink or toned down scarlets. If the outfits are dark, opt for simple plain glosses with tints of the colour of your shoes or t-shirt.
For a formal day wear, go for a bolder colour. Say red with black. Make sure the red is not maroon or fancy in anyway. And to give it a soothing effect, press your lips to a tissue before you leave.

Nights can be glittery and fun. Make a statement with silver and mauve. Purple and mud brown. Depending on your outfit.
Trust me when a guy looks at you, even if he says you've got pretty eyes, he definitely stares at your lips.
Good luck.

Tips For Natural Glowing Skin!

Diet plays an important role in preserving and maintaining the human body. All parts of the body require a healthy, balanced diet to perform their functions normally. Any change in eating habits or an imbalance in the diet can cause illness and then a human body weak and malnourished.

Ayurveda principal stress for a healthy life focuses on a balanced diet, ecological and vegetarian lifestyle with adequate exercise. A healthy body will have a healthy and natural glowing skin, and vice versa.

The skin is the outer lining of the body comes into direct contact with the environment. Many environmental factors affect the skin adversely as a skin exposure to these factors is much more frequent and prolonged. There are several internal and external factors that damage the skin beauty care.

The unhealthy eating habits damage the skin. A balanced diet is essential not only for the vital organs of the body, it is equally important to other parts of the body including the skin.

Moonsoon, foot frenzy!

Come monsoon season and everybody has to rake their brains as to what to put on and step out of the house. Be it clothes or footwear- everyone has to compromise in terms of dressing up not according to what looks best on them but as per the showers allow them.

Rainy season is not a good time for the fashion enthusiasts as it dampens their spirits of donning their best outfits and footwear. Footwear, especially, is taken much care of. It’s very essential as the right kind of footwear helps us to tread through those frustrating potholes and muddy puddles. Here are some apt must-have footwear’s which will help you through this dreaded season:

If you are sporting a knee-length skirt or a Capri then you can opt for flip-flops or flats.

Fashion lovers can go for slip-resistant sandals with heels but of not more than 2 inches with ankle straps to walk comfortably on slippery and uneven roads. Aside from the ever-popular ballet flats, Crocs has introduced several new models that even fashion-savvy girls will love, so you don’t have to squirm every time someone looks at your feet when you’re wearing them.

Option for men could be knee- high gumboots, sport sandals.

Shoes such as sports and canvas are a strict no-no for this season as there are chances of bacterial growth due to the moisture in the climate.

Do not wear much of leather footwear as they too have the tendency of sheltering bacteria and fungus. If it is necessary to wear leather footwear during rainy season, feet should not be slipped in and out of the shoes directly, and must be opened only by the laces. Socks are a must; even if they get wet as they act as a barrier between the skin and the leather

If possible, shell out a few more bucks and buy branded footwear such as Puma, Reebok, Nike, Adidas, Liberty which will not slip from your feet and are designed to endure such harsh weathers.
Even if it brings along infuriating moments with it, rainy season, on the other hand, is also the time when you are at the peak of emotions. If taken optimistically, one can thoroughly enjoy this pleasant weather by following a few guidelines as above and celebrate monsoons without any compromises. So, wipe out all those apprehensions from your minds, step out and enjoy the showers!

NAIL ART

Always wanted to do that fancy manicure and pedicure without hurting your pocket. Well, here's an easy way to do it at home itself.

The French Tip: This is where a little trickery comes into play. Take a little tape (ordinary cello tape will do) and put it across your
nail, separating the top from the middle and bottom. Apply the white polish and then just take of the tape. You're set with saucy French tips!
Funky Lines: Apply a coloured polish to your nail. Go with a strong colour like pink. Then take a toothpick and dip it in black nail paint. Now draw as you please on the dried previous coat to get a neo-modern print on your nails.

Dot yourself: Take a white permanent marker and use it to get the polka dots look. Then let it dry for 10 minutes and take a thin tip marker and add dots to the nail paint.

Add some sparkle: To get the rainbow glitter on your nails just take translucent or white nail paint. Apply a coat and before it dries, sprinkle on store-brought powdered sparkle (gold or say even black) and let it set. Your disco chic nails will be ready in 15 minutes.

Paste on: Paste ons are your best friends. You don’t need messy polish. Just buy paste on crystals, small stickers  etc from the local stationery store or beauty store and just use them to accessories your nails within minutes.

Go ahead and bag it !

Bags are no less important than funky jeans and tops . They are most definitely an irreplaceable fashion accessory. Besides increasing the style quotient, they serve to carry one’s personal belonging stylishly.

SIZE DOES MATTER

Big bags are ‘in’. They look classy and are spacious accommodating all one needs - mobile, books, combs, umbrella - you name it and the bag can hold .

Sling bags

Sling bag purses are the latest fashion mantra amongst the fashionistas. They not only bring back the retro look but are also very comfortable . The sheer style, variety of designs and sizes , complements any outfit and occasion.

To sport the funky look, a colourful sling bag, customized to suit yourself with badges, pins ,clips is surely the answer……

Tote bags

With small straps /handles , tote bags vary greatly in the type of fabric used – leather, denim, canvas and sometimes even plastic ! They are multipurpose and can serve as a fashionable briefcase, shopping bag , travel tote , or even a lunch bag.

Carry a tote bag to add the classic touch to your outfit !

Clutches

For the chic look, clutches are the obvious choice! The style is simple but combined with the glam clutch it lends an exotic look! Mix and match with the variety of colours to get the best look!

Jholas

For a more relaxed look , opt for the jholas, colourful and vibrant ! They look great with kurtas too.

Stepping out in style

Have you ever felt your head swing with dopamine after seeing ‘confessions of the shopaholic’?? well then all I can say is high 5 !

“Give a girl the correct footwear and she can conquer the world”. ( Bette Midler)

No dress or attire is ever complete without the right footwear . They add the much needed ‘oomph’ to the dress. Its not important to match your footwear perfectly to your clothes, rather you can always bring a pop of color to a neutral outfit . This season the color blocking trend is a huge hit. Color blocking is wearing statement colors like blacks andwhites with a pop of color, by adding neon color accessories like hot pink, green, orange and blue.

‘Diamonds are a girls best friend’ is now passé . Forget the diamonds girls, bring out your sexy shoes and step out in style !

My favourite trends for this year are:

Wedges

These make you look taller and slimmer, lending a sophisticated girly look to your outfit.

Gladiator

They give you a Boho-chick look which is great for the season. Wear them with shorts , rompers, dresses, jeans and enjoy the attention !

Colourful sandles

Spice up your neutral clothing this spring with a pair of vibrant-hued sandals. This is one trend that can never go wrong .

Platform Heels

Platform heels has always been a popular fashion trend as they give a stable height, and look elegant. With the wide variety of choices and styles available in the market , it CAN get confusing !But whatever your choice is, platform wedges will let you stay on your feet all day long in quite a fashionable manner!

Loafers

Average neutral colours are a choice of the past. Choose loafers of bright colors and hues.Other textures such as snake skin, nubuck and patent leather are also available. These shoes look great with jeans, skirts, pants or shorts, making your day out as comfortable as it can get !

Flip flops

Flip flops have always been hugely popular every summer. They add a lot of color to a dull outfit. They are very summery and amazingly comfortable. Perfect for road trips and beaches. Available in different styles of straps and heels, flip flops can be teamed with almost every kind of outfit –jeans, suits, shorts, skirts …

How to make a Dream Board!!!

Setting goals is something we're all familiar with. In fact, it’s almost become a cliche that some people no longer pay attention to. Making a dream board can take the cliche out of setting your life goals, and can even help you to accomplish those goals.

STEPS :

  1. 1
You can either gather use magazines or image websites. If you choose to use magazines, you should use different types, covering all the topics that you are interested in.
  2. 2
Go through each magazine and cut out any random pictures that appeal to you. Allow your mind to wander and follow your instinct. Find bright, colorful images that make you feel fantastic or get you thinking about what life could be like if it were you in that picture. Try to minimize the words that you cut out.
  3. 3
Purchase a magnetic board or a large blank painting canvas that is pre-strung on a timber frame and paper glue. These are inexpensive and available at a local art store. (A good size is 1m x 1.5m.)
  4. 4
Cut out the pictures neatly and stick them on your board.
  5. 5
Place the dream board beside your bed or in your office and look at it at least twice a day for about 5 minutes. Enjoy the images, enjoy your work and imagine yourself leading the life that is in your dream board.
  6. 6
You will notice in the following 12 months that you are starting to achieve some of the dreams you have stuck on your board.

1. DILLI HAAT

This huge Delhi market has been deliberately made to feel like a traditional weekly village market, called a haat. Small thatched roof cottages with a village atmosphere give it great ambiance. The market offers an exciting blend of handicrafts from all over India, food, and cultural and music performances. The entry fee is 15 rupees (35 cents). Don't miss it!

2. JANPATH AND TIBETIAN MARKET

This very popular and lively Delhi market, which was recently given a makeover, has something for everyone. You'll find goods from everywhere in India and Tibet here, and it's a great place to shop for things to take back home. However, you'll need all your bargaining skills to get a really decent price.

Khan Market is a small, U-shaped, well established market that's one of Delhi's classiest. Bargain hunters are likely to be disappointed at this market. It's got a loyal following who go there to shop at its branded outlets. One of the best things about this market is its interesting book shops. It's also got some excellent tailors who will make you a suit in less than a week. For Ayurvedic food, medicine and skin care check out Biotique, and Khadi. Hidden away, you'll find some great lounges to relax in, many with balconies overlooking the street.

4. PAHARGANJ

Some of the best bargain shopping in Delhi can be found in the crumbling and chaotic Main Bazaar of the Paharganj traveler ghetto. Many of the shops in Paharganj also deal in wholesale and export to foreign countries, making it a good place to come and hunt out unique and inexpensive goods to import back home.
